The optional Project Portal Active Directory Connector enhances Project Portal user and group management with Microsoft Active Directory® Services (AD) support. The Active Directory Connector makes user management more efficient in organizations that use Active Directory by importing user account and group information from Active Directory into Project Portal. This is useful to keep Project Portal consistent with Active Directory and avoid duplicate entry of the information.
In Project Portal, the user accounts and groups that are retrieved from Active Directory are called global users and global groups. Project Portal access (local) groups can safely be used with global users and global groups.
Note The Active Directory Connector is installed if the folder named Global groups appears in a workspace configuration tree.
